Our History

It all started at Calvary Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, while we were doing drama at a seeker service called Saturday Night. Our friend, Cooksie from Canada, was performing some improv at Calvin College and he wanted us to give it a shot. We were never really big on the whole script memorizing idea, so we loved this improv thing!

We started performing improv at people's houses during parties after church and in the basement of the church for our friends after the Saturday Night service. Then somebody approached us and said, "Will you guys perform at our company Christmas party?" It was our first "professional" show (December 16, 1992) and CPR was off and running.

For the next few years we traveled around our hometown of Grand Rapids and the state of Michigan performing at company Christmas parties and local church events (in December, sometimes as many as 3 shows a night and 6 per weekend).

On New Year's Eve of 1995, we performed at our home church in Grand Rapids with Christian singer extraordinaire, Ken Medema. He told us he was going to recommend us to a company that did these big youth worker conventions. I don't think we really believed him.

In 1996, we got a call from a company in San Diego called Youth Specialties. They invited us to come to St. Louis that fall to perform at one of their conventions. We didn't make the connection that these were the same people Ken had recommended us to. So we almost said no to their offer. We admit now that would have surely limited our progress in the future.

Mainly because God stepped in to prevent us from making a huge mistake, we headed to St. Louis to perform for about 4,000 youth workers from all over North America at the National Youth Workers Conventions. The phone calls started coming in and we started traveling all over the country.

During 1997-98, we quit our real jobs to focus on CPR full time. Ever since, we have performed at all of the Youth Specialties National Youth Workers Conventions and lots of other events around the country.

In the past few years, we have received opportunities to perform at church events, women's conferences, college events, pastor conventions and corporate events, in addition to many youth events.

Currently we perform approximately 120 shows each year in the United States and a couple a year in Canada. We're still waiting for that invitation to Hawaii and the Caribbean.

God has given us a message of clean comedy and true joy that can only be found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our goal is to share that message with anyone who will listen.

Our theme verse is Ephesians 3:20: "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us."

That, more than anything, is the story of our lives.
